​Rakesh has a total of twenty one years of financial services experience with a strong track record of execution and expertise. As a business leader, he has performed exceedingly well across both the Assets and Liabilities space having covered various verticals including SME and commercial finance, Commercial Real Estate and Mortgage Lending, various consumer lending products, capital market offerings and wealth management products.  
 
In his career, Rakesh has provided strategic focus and vision, improving market share and building strong businesses. He has built a credible product proposition for Mortgage Business, SME business strategically positioning the product in a highly competitive market. He has successfully built a robust network of channel partners/distributors, providing them the thrust and motivation to attain superior targets.
 
Rakesh joined Aditya Birla Finance Limited as Chief Executive Officer in July 2011 and in a short span of time has transformed the business into a material business within the NBFC space. Prior to this he has spent 16 years in Standard Chartered Bank handling different roles. The major assignments which he took responsibility for was Value Centre General Manager & Head – SME Banking business India & South Asia. Earlier he managed the role of Value Centre General Manager & Head – Mortgages business, India. Rakesh established and built the Mortgage business for Standard Chartered Bank, making one of the best Mortgages portfolio in the industry. Has been instrumental in building strong Customer Value Proposition for Mortgages and SME business segments.
 
Rakesh is also a Director on the Board of Aditya Birla Housing Finance Limited and is responsible for building the housing finance business.
 
Rakesh is a member of different Industry Forums like CII and FICCI including being a member of FICCI's Banking & Financial Institutions (FI) Committee. He is also an Honorary Member on the Advisory Board of London Education Management Consultants and is on the Board of Studies as member for Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies.
 
Rakesh has done his Executive Program in business management from IIM Calcutta. His academic achievements also include a Master of Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of Lucknow. He has done his Post graduation in International Relations from University of Lucknow.
